Saharawi nurse
When not at home looking after her family, Embarka is a nurse at her local clinic in Smara camp. Many Saharawi women became nurses in the early years of war, after the fleeing population was bombarded with napalm and cluster bombs by Moroccan planes. In the refugee camps, the vocational centres and hospitals provide training for women in the health sector.
