Open air mines
Internally displaced children from North Katanga are employed in open-air mines, Kamoto, Kolwezi. Displaced families and children pay the price of conflict. Because of the dire economic conditions and the breakdown of the social fabric within communities and families, children lose their points of reference and become lost. Their instinct for survival pushes them to engage in risky and dangerous activities. 2006.
