The UN General Assembly (UNGA) declared 29 November as the International Day
of Solidarity with Palestinian People in 1977. On the same day in 1947, the
General Assembly had adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
On 3 December 2001, the UNGA noted the action taken by Member States to observe
the Day, and requested them to continue to give it the widest possible publicity.
